About Us
MİTAŞ was established in Gaziantep in 1949 under the leadership of İhsan Uncu. In its early years, the company operated nationwide, focusing on the production of vehicle spare parts and the development of brake systems. Until 1962, air brake systems entirely manufactured by our company were applied to commercial vehicles with hydraulic brakes. Vehicle engines were adapted to the rear part, converting them into rear-engined vehicles. In subsequent years, the addition of a third axle to trucks and the manufacturing of wheel hubs were carried out for the first time in Turkey.
In 1975, the company won the tender opened by MKEK (Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation) and the Gendarmerie to outsource the manufacturing of 35,000 bayonets to the private sector. Following a six-month R&D study, mass production of bayonets commenced. Subsequently, 40,000 to 50,000 G-3 bayonets and scabbards were manufactured annually to meet the needs of the army. A total of 1,100,000 units were produced.
With Mustafa UNCU joining the company in 1979, it continued its operations as MİTAŞ Machine Inc. It carries out its activities in machining and textile machinery manufacturing across a factory area of 4,200 m². In 2010, the 3rd generation, İbrahim UNCU, joined the company after completing his university education. By blending the knowledge, skills, and experience of the 2nd generation with the innovative and technological ideas of the 3rd generation, the manufacturing of technological, next-generation production lines began.
Main Manufacturing Headings
The main manufacturing headings of our company, which possesses a technologically advanced machinery park, are as follows:
- Ministry of National Defense Army Equipment: Production of G-3 Bayonet - Scabbard, T-46 ammunition box, 66 mm copper warhead, 2.75’’ tail fin, 2.75’’ rocket launcher, metal parts for G-3 rifle slings, Kalashnikov knife and sheath, and weapon components,
- Production of textile machinery spare parts for domestic and international companies,
- Since 2002, manufacturing of take-up winders for heat-setting (fixe) – frieze yarn machines,
- Since 2005, manufacturing of shoe sole molds,
- In 2013, the manufacturing of closed tunnel system yarn heat-setting machines for all yarn types was initiated,
- In 2014, the manufacturing of low investment cost heat-setting machines for acrylic yarn was initiated,
- In 2016, following R&D studies in cooperation with MKE, the manufacturing of the MPT-76 bayonet was initiated.
To date, MİTAŞ Machine Inc. has sold machinery to countries such as China, Iran, Brazil, Uzbekistan, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
Since our establishment, our company has adopted the principle of continuous research, closely following new technologies, and maintaining a high technological level by incorporating innovations into its structure. By conducting the necessary research regarding the manufactured products and production methods, technological devices and equipment that improve quality while shortening production times are rapidly integrated into our machinery park.
Our company possesses a total of 18 CNC Metal Working machines of various sizes, capacities, and capabilities, including C and Y-axis lathes, 2-axis lathes, 3-axis machining centers, and 4-axis machining centers. Committed to delivering high-quality work to its clients in a short time, our company aims to respond to customer demands by renewing its infrastructure and making additional investments based on their needs.
